Hebrews 7:15–17
15 "And this is clearer still, if another priest arises according to the likeness of Melchizedek, 16 who has become such not on the basis of a law of physical requirement, but according to the power of an indestructible life. 17 For it is attested of Him, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.”
"And this is clearer still". The writer is referring to the fact that Christ is the end of the Law. Since the Law said a priest must be a Levite, but we now have Christ, from the tribe of Judah, who is a priest according to the order of Melchizedek. Like Melchizedek, Jesus is not a priest based on pedigree, but based on merit. Jesus lived a perfect life and earned the right to be a priest. No more morally compromised priests just because they have the right genealogy. Praise God for blessing us with a great High Priest!
