Hebrews 6:13–15
13 "For when God made the promise to Abraham, since He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, 14 saying, “I will surely bless you and I will surely multiply you.” 15 And so, having patiently waited, he obtained the promise."
The previous text invited us to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Then the writer moves to the patience of Abraham. God made a promise to Abraham and Abraham received the promise...many years later. We often speak of Abraham as the father of faith and recognize his faith through his obedience. Here the writer wants you to recognize the faith of Abraham in his patience. He believed God would honor His word and he never stopped believing it. Pray for the same endurance in your life.
