Hebrews 2:14–15
14 "Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives."
Christ came to die because death is the ultimate penalty. Not only is death the wages for sin, but it is also the chief threat used by the enemy. Ever since the garden Satan used "fear of death" as manipulative tool to lead men into sin. Christ came to overthrow death and thus remove his power. Ask God to take your fear of death from you in Christ.
