CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS

NEXT STEPS

We are thankful for the men and women of our church who possess special talents and skills for projects such as this.  Below is a list for any eager volunteers outlining the tasks that need to be done.  While some tasks can be done at various times, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THESE TASKS ARE DONE IN THIS ORDER.  As we check off certain parts of the list, we'll scratch them off the list!  What a blessing to have such able and willing volunteers!  If you want to help, but want some more clarification on what needs to be done, please contact Rory or Leo.

  • DEMO EXISTING SUNDAY SCHOOL WING:
    • Tear out drop ceiling
    • Take up carpet and tile
    • Tear out existing plaster and sheet rock
    • Tear out all walls running north to south (leave east to west walls)
    • Haul off debris

  • CLEAN UP CURRENT ELECTRICAL
    • Identify and label the current electrical boxes in the ceiling.
    • Remove all down-hanging plugs and switches.
    • Wire up temporary plugs and lighting for ongoing construction.
    • Remove remaining ceiling grid and light fixtures.
    • Remove old AC duct from the attic space.

  • FRAMING
    • Shore up structure with beams and poles
    • Frame up three long (east to west) walls (potential load bearing).
    • Remove old east to west running walls.
    • Frame up the remaining walls (north/south)
    • Frame in the exterior cubby hole for brick.
    • Remove current exterior doors in cubby hole.  Frame for interior closet door.
    • Build 18" platform for AC units in new AC closet
    • Spray foam south and west walls to seal them up
    • Build new jams for older and currently removed interior doors to be reused.

  • ELECTRICAL
    • Install HVAC
    • Install electrical.
    • Install any other wiring deemed necessary (AUDIO, SDI, HDMI, CAT-5 INTERNET, etc.)
    • Install plugs, switches, cover plates

  • FINISH WALLS
    • Install insulation in walls.
    • Hang sheetrock
    • Tape, bed, and texture.
    • Paint walls
    • Spackle nail holes, caulk trim, touch up paint everywhere

  • DOORS AND CEILINGS
    • Install interior doors
    • Trim doors, windows, baseboards
    • Install AC closet door
    • Install drop ceiling grid 
    • Install drop ceiling lights and HVAC vents
    • Install drop ceiling panels and ceiling insulation
    • Install new windows
    • Case and trim out the new windows
    • Install panic bar and door closer on far west door
    • Paint and hang interior doors
    • Install door hardware
    • Install ceiling in AC closet

  • FLOORING
    • Install carpet in classrooms and hallways

  • MOVE IN!!!
    • Move in tables and chairs into SS rooms
    • Meet and talk about Jesus!

END OF PHASE 1 

BEGIN PHASE 2  (Phase 2 demo will begin the second week of June immediately following V.B.S.)

  • DEMO
    • Cover kitchen wall, map wall, and entrance into SS wing.
    • Remove flooring in fellowship hall, kitchen, and classrooms
    • Remove drop ceiling and insulation in fellowship hall and classrooms
    • Remove south interior wall in fellowship hall
    • Remove plaster on west wall of fellowship hall

  • FRAMING
    • Frame up faux wall along south wall (potentially along north wall as well)
    • Frame up storage closet in south east corner

  • ELECTRICAL
    • Wiring for plugs and lighting

  • SHEETROCK
    • Insulate walls
    • Sheetrock walls
    • Tape and bed walls
    • Texture walls
    • Paint walls
    • Trim windows and doors

  • CEILLING
    • Install drop ceiling grid
    • Install lights and AC ductwork
    • Install ceiling tiles and ceiling insulation

  • FLOORING
    • Install flooring in fellowship hall and kitchen
