February 27, 2024 By bro.rory

When we attend a conference that we particularly enjoyed, we like to give the media links out through our website so that you might enjoy them too!  Recently we attended The Countryside Conference at Countryside Bible Church in Southlake, TX where “Holiness” was the theme.  Featured speakers were Tom Pennington, Steve Lawson, Ian Hamilton, and Mike Ricardi.  We think you’ll love it too!.

African Pastor’s Conference

January 30, 2024 By bro.rory

“Understanding the Gospel”

JUNE 7-14

Brackenhurst

Limuru-Banana Road, Limuru – Kiambu, Kenya

A “by invitation only” conference featuring a week of intense Bible study at the beautiful Brackenhurst facility in Kiambu, Kenya.  It is a 7-day conference filled with Bible teaching and a day to enjoy the beautiful African landscape.  21 Bible sessions over the clarity of the gospel.  We are extending an invitation to Brother Samuel Matieso of Kisii, Kenya and to brother Charles Masanja of Igunga-Tabora, Tanzania to each attend our conference and to each bring 2 other men with them.  We encourage each of you to bring men who best fit the qualifications for pastors laid out in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9 and who are most suitable for teaching what they learn at this conference to your church at home.  We are NOT requiring that the men you bring be able to speak English as we will employ English to Swahili translators at Brackenhurst, but being able to speak English would prove to be a great advantage to whoever you bring.

Here is what we are offering to you.

Each registrant will receive:

  • A conference workbook
  • A conference shirt
  • Lodging at Brackenhurst for the full stay
  • All meals and snacks included
  • A day trip to enjoy the beauties of Africa
  • A certificate upon completion of the course material

We will also be giving one MacArthur commentary set to each group.

  • One 33 volume set for the men from Tanzania placed in the charge of Brother Charles
  • One 33 volume set for the men from Kenya placed in the charge of Brother Samuel

In addition:

  • We are offering to cover travel expense up to $300 per person to assist with you coming to Brackenhurst and to returning home. You are responsible for making all of your travel arrangements.
  • We are allowing Brother Charles to invite up to 2 other men to attend with him and Brother Samuel to invite up to 2 other men to attend with him. Please understand that our rooms are double occupancy which means that you may be sharing a room with one of the men from the other group.
  • We will be securing the employment of translators who can translate from English to Swahili so you may bring men with you who do not speak English.

What we require of you:

  1. Register for the conference. Either fill out the online registration below, or print the paper form at the end of this sentence, fill it out, take a picture and send it back to us via WhatsApp. African Pastor’s Conference Registration
  2. A commitment to follow through and come to Brackenhurst. We will be paying up front for the use of the facilities and if you do not arrive we will have wasted a great deal of money.
  3. A commitment to send pictures of the receipts of purchased passports, bus tickets, etc. as proof that money sent for travel is being spent accordingly.  You are responsible for securing your travel plans to and from Brackenhurst.  You should plan to arrive by 17:00 on Thursday, June 6.
  4. A commitment to pray for God to prepare your heart for the teaching.
  5.  A commitment to hold a conference in your local church upon returning home to teach, with our oversight, the doctrines we will be teaching you during this week.
  6. A commitment to take up a love offering in your church for the poor in Nairobi, Kenya which you will bring with you to the conference. There is no expectation of how large the offering you bring is, but it is important for you and your congregation to contribute in some way to work of the gospel in other places, just as the Philippians contributed to Paul’s ministry though they were very poor.

“Now, brethren, we wish to make known to you the grace of God which has been given in the churches of Macedonia, that in a great ordeal of affliction their abundance of joy and their deep poverty overflowed in the wealth of their liberality. For I testify that according to their ability, and beyond their ability, they gave of their own accord, begging us with much urging for the favor of participation in the support of the saints, and this, not as we had expected, but they first gave themselves to the Lord and to us by the will of God.” (2 Corinthians 8:1-5)

ONLINE REGISTRATION

I commit to the following requirements:

  • To pray for this conference
  • To pray for the conference leaders (Rory Mosley, Stephen Butts, Logan Heinrich, Zech Mosley)
  • To send pictures of receipts of all travel money sent
  • To hold a conference with my local church teaching these doctrines when I return
  • To lead my church in weekly offerings leading up to the conference for an offering to assist the poor in Nairobi, Kenya to be brought with me to the conference.

DISCIPLE STILL (a discipleship weekend for adults 55 and up)

September 14, 2023 By bro.rory

For years our church has hosted Disciple-Now, which is a weekend conference for youth to remind them that it is never too early to start following Christ and serving His kingdom.  They can be disciples now.  With that in mind we would like to invite all adults age 55 and up to our first ever Disciple-Still weekend where we seek not only to honor the senior adults of our congregation but also to encourage them that they are disciples still and such a valuable part of the ministry of the church and the kingdom of heaven.  We hope you’ll be a part!

Our theme this year is “UNFINISHED” as we seek to encourage you that until the Lord returns or takes us home, our task as His servants is not yet finished!

Follow the link below for the online signup.
Deadline to signup is: November 29

Leading the Weekend

PREACHER BOBBY TOWELL

Bobby graduated from Sweetwater High School in the eventful and tumultuous year of 1968. Like many of his generation, he foolishly followed the trends of the time. Sin took him further than he intended to go and kept him longer than he intended to stay. But the “Hound of Heaven” persistently pursued him from coast to coast and around every dark corner. The Lord would not let him escape his irresistible grace. The Father brought the prodigal son back home and to himself in December of 1971. He has been a disciple of Jesus Christ for over 52 years now. He graduated from Warner Pacific University with a B.A. in Religion and Fuller Theological Seminary with M.A. in Theology. Bobby has served churches in the Northwest, Colorado, and Texas. He now serves as a hospice chaplain.

Bobby and his wife, Joyce, are active members of Southside Baptist Church of Abilene, Texas. They have led a home group and participated in D-groups. Bobby teaches in different groups and classes of Southside. He and Joyce are presently assisting in the college class and discipling a group of college students. Bobby and Joyce have been married for 50 years. They have 2 married daughters and 6 grandchildren. Bobby and Joyce’s prayer and goal is to leave a godly legacy for their children and grandchildren, and to finish their course with joy.

WORSHIP LEADER COLIN LUNDSTROM

Colin has served on staff at Fellowship Church Lubbock since early 2020. Prior to moving to Lubbock, he served as a music minister in West Texas for 6 years. He has a BA degree in biblical studies from Frontier School of the Bible (2009) and is working towards resuming his MDiv in the fall of 2023 from Grace Bible Theological Seminary. He also earned a two-year technical degree focusing on piano and vocal performance from Olympic College (2006) and has received classical training in piano, clarinet, conducting and other interdisciplinary studies. He and his wife, Jessica, have six children; five boys (Seth, Kreg, Lewis, Theodor and Ethan) and one girl (Juliette).

TRAILER

TEASER

LAST YEAR’S HIGHLIGHT VIDEO SO YOU’LL KIND OF KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT, BUT WE LOVE TO MIX IT UP WITH NEW STUFF EVERY YEAR!!!

THE PLAN FOR FRIDAY NIGHT OF D-NOW

  • Spur and Motley are on a Bye week for football.
  • Jayton plays @ Guthrie AT 7:30.
  • We won’t start anything official (or the super fun stuff) until Jayton and Guthrie students are able to arrive.  (We are tentatively saying 10:30, but are flexible to whenever they get here!)
  • Students who aren’t attending football games are welcome to come early (6:45).  We’ll feed you and have some fun stuff to do while we wait an everyone to arrive.
  • We will be bringing a cargo trailer to the Jayton school Friday morning (10/13) before school and waiting in the parking lot.  All Jayton students are free to bring their luggage before school so they don’t have to bother with it afterward.
  • We will also be bringing suburbans and our church van to the Jayton school to transport students after the football game Friday night.  Feel free to drop your kids off on your own at the church any time 6:45 or later, adults will be there, but if your child is attending the game and rides the bus back to the school we will send rides to pick them up once they get back to the school and bring them to Spur for D-Now.
