It is nearly impossible to give a complete run down as to who we are in one section of a website. To really get to know us you will just have to hang around us, but I can give you a few ideas as to what really makes us tick.
A LOVE FOR THE WORD
All of our services are planned around an exposition of the Word of God. We place high emphasis on studying God’s Word through expository book by book studies of the Bible. The Word of God is active and living and sharper than any two edged sword and it never returns to God empty, but always accomplishes His desire. It is perfect, restoring the soul; sure, making wise the simple; right, rejoicing the heart; pure, enlightening the eyes; true, righteous altogether; sweet, sweeter than honey from the comb and in keeping it is great reward. We are not here to study various topics or to learn trendy fads and gimmicks for modern living. We love to thoroughly study Gods inerrant Word!
A LOVE FOR THE LOST
We rejoice with all of heaven when a sinner gets saved. We love to see a life set free from the shackles of sin, and changed into a life of true unyielding devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ. We love to see lives leave the darkness of selfishness and turn into those who faithfully and selflessly take up the cross and follow Jesus. Moving a dead soul into eternal life remains the greatest miracle God ever works, and we love to witness it. Because of this love, missions have become our heart-beat. In addition to mission offerings and mission education, God has also allowed us to serve Him in places like Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, China, Guatemala, Lebanon, Israel, El Paso, Mexico and of course here at home.
A LOVE FOR EACH OTHER
I would be lying if I said we were perfect. We are not. We are human, and because of that there are times when we disagree, but the beauty we have found is that when there is a love for one another minor problems can easily be resolved, and unity can always be achieved. I can easily call this church a Loving Church because I have so many times been the recipient of that unconditional love. Sure there are ministries that reveal this brotherly love like benevolence, meals on wheels, deacon / widow ministries, etc. But the real love is shown in the general compassion that exists. It is hard to get sick without having someone bring you a meal, it is hard to have a project without someone offering to help, and it is near impossible to have a hardship in life without numerous people giving you a hug. Loving each other is what we do!
A LOVE FOR JESUS
Loving Jesus is the great and foremost commandment and one that we gladly obey. He is our Master, He is our Lord, He is our Savior, He is our God. It is He who pulled us from the pit of sin and despair and set our feet upon a rock, and the passion of our lives is to tell Him thank you through worship and to show Him our gratitude through obedience. Our singing is to Him, our preaching is about Him, our obedience is for Him, our life is in Him, and our desire is to see Him coming soon in the clouds of glory! We love Jesus!
REGARDING OUR GENERAL THEOLOGY
We’re what you might call semi-reformed. We definitely believe in the sovereignty of God over all things, including salvation. We definitely believe in things like election, actual atonement, and the preservation of the saints. We would definitely hold to the 5 SOLAS of the Reformation as non-negotiable. We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, as revealed by Scripture alone, to the glory of God alone. Where we might stray from traditional reformed views would be in our belief in believer’s baptism as opposed to pedo-baptism and also in our eschatology. We do not believe that the church has replaced Israel. We believe that the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable and that one day Israel will turn to Christ and will be saved. We typically hold to a pre-millennial view of the end times. Regarding charismatic theology, we categorically reject word-faith theology, the prosperity gospel, and the distortion of spiritual gifts such as the modern day distortion of tongues as a personal/private prayer language, or the current fascination with modern-day prophets. We believe the cannon is closed and the Scripture is sufficient having provided everything needed for life and godliness. If you have any other questions regarding our beliefs feel free to contact us with any questions.
