A NEW STUDY BEGINNING SUNDAY MORNINGS – OCTOBER 16
It had been nearly 100 years since Zerubbabel finished the temple. Israel had survived the exile and had settled nicely back in her land. But with the new found ease also came familiar indifference. Israel had fallen back into apathy. No longer concerned about the quality of their sacrifices, the accuracy of their preaching, or the faithfulness of their commitments, Israel had grown to believe that God was fine with Israel regardless of her sin. They were back their land and all that was left now was for their King to arrive and lead them to prominence. To this complacent culture Malachi arrives with a burden from God. You aren’t ready for the King! God is so burdened by you, He’d just as soon someone lock the door to the temple! Before God sends a King, He’s going to send a messenger to come and purify His people for in their apathy they are not fit for the kingdom. What a timely message to those of us who now live in the last days! We are those who now wait for our King to come, but I wonder if we are ready to meet Him? Come study the book of Malachi and allow God to address any indifference in your life in order that He might prepare you to meet the King!
